Overview

Born on the 19th of September 1936, Aristides Charalambous finished the primary school of his village and was a student in the sixth grade of the Pedoulas High School when he was killed. He joined the EOKA struggle in the Marathasa area from the beginning and cooperated with his teachers and classmates. Some of his Greek teachers were also the instructors of the students of the Pedoulas Lyceum in the use of weapons. On 11 March 1956, a Sunday, the local EOKA Pedoulas group was expecting to strike a convoy of British soldiers at three points on the road to Kykkos. Aristides was involved in one of the groups. He was carrying two bombs of sophisticated construction. One exploded in his hand, severing his palm and mortally wounding him in the stomach.
